Garmin No Longer Connects to the E6 Software after Windows Update
Windows updates often reset security and network settings that are critical for the "bridge" connection between the Garmin Golf app and E6 Connect. If your R10 was working and stopped after an update, the update likely changed your network profile to "Public" or reset your Firewall permissions.
1. Toggle Network to "Private" (Most Common Fix)
Windows updates frequently reset Wi-Fi connections to a "Public" profile for security. This blocks the R10 from talking to your PC.
On your PC, click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar.
Select your network and click Properties.
Under Network Profile Type, change it from "Public" to "Private".
Restart E6 and try to connect again.
2. Verify IP and Port "Binding" in E6
The update may have cleared the software's memory of your PC's IP address.
Launch E6 on your PC.
Go to Simulator/Tracking Systems to configure
Crucial Step: Look at the list of IP addresses. You must click on your PC's IP address (it should turn blue/highlight) and then click Accept.
Note the Port (usually 2483). Ensure this matches the Port number shown in the Garmin Golf app on your phone.
3. Check Windows Firewall
Windows Defender may have revoked E6 "Inbound" permissions.
Search for "Allow an app through Windows Firewall" in your Start menu.
Click Change Settings.
Find E6 and ensure both Private and Public boxes are checked.
If it still fails, temporarily disable the firewall to test the connection.
If it works, you need to add a specific Inbound Rule for TCP Port 2483.
4. Reset the "Handshake"
Sometimes the Bluetooth or Network stack just needs a hard refresh after an update:
Phone: Open the Garmin Golf app, go to the R10 device settings, and select "Forget this Device".
PC: Restart your computer.
R10: Perform a hard reset by holding the button for 15 seconds until the light flashes.
Re-pair: Re-pair the R10 to the Garmin Golf app first, then try the "Play on PC" bridge to E6.
