Adjusting the Projector to Fit the Screen (Vista)

Adjusting the Projector to Fit the Screen (Vista)

NOTE: The projected image for a Vista 8 and 12 do not fill the screen. The image will appear letterboxed.
Letter box example

The image on a Vista 10 Should pretty much fill the screen.

We’ll be using the Optima Projector on the Left of this image. However, the basics are the same for both.

Getting Started

  • Remove the Lens Cover, attach the cabling, and get the device working

  • You may want to set to AUTO SOURCE in the SETUP Menu

  • If the image seems somewhat tilted, for example if the right side seems higher than the left, it’s because the projector isn’t aligned (parallel) to the screen. If it’s close, it might be easiest to push/pull the vista unit on the high side to adjust.

Positioning the Projector

  • Put the Projector foot under the projector. This short throw projector casts the image upward. To get the image to fit vertically, it needs to tilt downward.
  • Adjust the projector left/right and front/back to get the projected image close to positioned.
  • When positioned properly, the light from the projector should not be occluded by the projector box.

Adjusting the Projector Image
Use the interface on the projector or remote (if you have one)

You’ll be looking for the following items to tweak the image on the screen.

All of these settings are found under DISPLAY

  • Aspect Ratio- For Vista 10 the aspect ratio is 4:3
  • ZOOM- This zooms the image in/out and preserves the ratio. Adjust to match the sides (I set this to -1, but your setup may vary) Do not use “Edge Mask”--that will actually clip/cut the image and is undesirable.

  • IMAGE SHIFT- Use this to fine tune the positioning left/right and up/down Remember, you want to get close by physically adjusting the device itself. (I set mine to -14 vertical, but your setup may vary)

  • KEYSTONE- this adjusts the trapezoid. (I set mine to -10, but your setup may vary)

PRO TIP
Projectors often appear washed out.
Adjust the “Display Mode” to eek out an image that you might find more appealing.
