How to Control Static in Your Environment with Trugolf
STATIC
Static can be an
issue for indoor golf simulators.
The material used in
the turf is nylon.
In a dry
environment, nylon creates a great deal of static, which can wreak havoc on
electronics.
(This is especially
true in winter, where forced air heating systems lower the overall humidity of
the environment)
How to Mitigate Static in an Environment:
- Ensure all the outlets are
grounded.
- Turn off equipment at night,
to allow any static that has developed to dissipate.
- To reduce static from forming
with the Nylon Turf Static Spray is readily
available and can work very well.
- Every morning before use,
lightly spray down (or mist) all the turf floors and stance mats. Stop spraying if you notice any buildup. You don’t want to make your
surface slippery. Continue again later if/as necessary
- If you prefer to DIY: We recommend using a spray bottle of 50%
Unscented Downy fabric softener and 50% Water.
- This product was made to
reduce static in clothing, and can work wonders here.
- We suggest a humidity level
of 35% or greater. This can be achieved by
adding a humidifier to the room, or to the heating unit in the building.
- Staff should always touch
something metal, if even just the PC case, before interacting with the PC
electronics. (like plugging in/removing USB cables)
- You can purchase Anti-Static
Floor Mats—these generally need to be grounded.
- These would be placed where a
user might stand to interact with the PC.
- Ionic air purifiers are known
to reduce static. But care should be taken here to avoid exposure to
ozone.
- A Note for Apogee Tracking
system: If you are using the USB to Ethernet Dongle, we do recommend
switching to a direct ethernet port as the Dongle maybe be more vulnerable
to static.
- For Trutrack user a Grounding
plate and Grounding plug is available for under the hitting mat. (Image
