Examples of Strange Images

We brought up the FlyCap Software to investigate and noticed a couple of errors

Issues Identified that could be in Error
  • Could be the camera
  • Could be the USB camera Tail
  • Could the the USB extension cord
  • Could be the USB on the Computer.
  • Could be the computer

Things we ruled out almost immediately

  • The TF2 unit itself (the box and USB tails) We ruled this out, because these are tested before they are sent. It doesn’t mean it’s not a fault, just that it is least likely
  • The USB extension cords. These were not pulled through conduit or a wall...so unlikely to be damages.

We started looking at the computer---as this wasn’t our computer, and we’ve seen this problem with user that have purchased their own computers before

What we Tried

  • We disconnected one camera from the computer to simplify testing
  • We tried moving the camera to different USB ports on the computer...no luck
  • No improvement when test with the other camera.

Ultimately, we tried a different computer, and Didn’t notice any failure---highlighting the computer as the issue

  • Customer was able to setup his Mac Laptop in Parallels using an USB-C adapter.
  • Installed ONLY the TF2 Utility...and when testing the FlyCap software, the error did NOT appear.

NOTE-- Never use the USB on the front of the computer for our cameras. This came from our engineers that find those USB ports lesser....likely due to how they are connected tot he motherboard and the BUS.
Always connect to the rear USB where the the USB is onboard (the motherboard)
