Connecting your Garmin Approach R10 to E6 Connect on Apple iOS

Connecting your Garmin Approach R10 to E6 Connect on Apple iOS

 Symptoms:

  1. Needing to connect the Garmin R10 device to E6 Connect on Apple iOS
  2. Garmin R10 not connected to E6 Connect on Apple iOS

Connecting your Garmin Approach R10 to E6 Connect on iOS (iPad or iPhone) is an integrated process. Instead of linking via standard iOS Bluetooth menus, the Garmin Golf app handles the hardware connection and pipes the radar data directly into E6 Connect.

As an added bonus, your Garmin R10 includes a free 5-course iOS license for E6 Connect.

Step 1: Claim Your Free E6 Connect License

Before launching the simulator, you need to set up your free Garmin 5 course license.

Please follow the guide here to add the free Garmin 5 course license to your account:  https://trugolf.zohodesk.com/portal/en/kb/articles/garmin-free-5-course-license

Step 2: Bind the License in E6 Connect
  1. Open the E6 Connect app on your iPad or iPhone.

  2. Create an account or log in.

  3. When prompted, select Redeem Product Key and paste the code you copied from the Garmin app. This unlocks your 5 free courses and practice ranges.

  4. Note: If you are trapped in a "Demo" mode, go to Settings > Info & Help > Simulator Binding, tap Unbind, restart the app, and select your newly claimed Garmin license tier.

Step 3: Establish the Real-Time Data Bridge

Every time you want to play a session, you must bridge the apps in this exact order:

  1. Turn on your Garmin R10 and make sure it is paired and actively connected to your Garmin Golf appvia Bluetooth.

  2. In the Garmin Golf app, navigate back to Golf Sim > TruGolf E6 Connect > Play on iOS.

  3. Tap the Open E6 Connect button at the bottom. This boots the E6 app while keeping the Garmin data engine running perfectly in the background.

  4. Inside E6 Connect, go to Settings > Simulator.

  5. Set your tracking system to Garmin and hit Accept. The status box will turn Green, indicating it is successfully receiving the radar stream.

Tips for Accuracy and Missed Shots
  • Keep Both Apps Awake: Do not force-close the Garmin Golf app while playing E6. It acts as the local data translator; if you swipe it away, E6 will instantly lose the connection to your R10.

  • Radar Distance Requirements: For accurate tracking, place the R10 on the ground exactly 6 to 8 feet directly behind the ball. Ensure there is at least 8 feet of open ball flight from the tee to your hitting net or screen.

  • Leveling: If you are hitting off a thick golf mat, ensure the R10 is elevated (using blocks or an adjustable stand) so its base is completely flush or slightly higher than the top of the hitting mat surface.
